A Canadian resident visiting his dying father in Iran was arrested in Tehran in 2008 and may be facing imminent execution. What was his crime? None. He wrote a Computer program you can use to upload pictures to the internet, which someone else used to upload porn and the programmer is taking all the ¨guilt¨ and being charged with “insulting and desecrating Islam”. He was not aware that someone was uploading porn using his program. Talk about stupidity, but this is what religion does when taken to the extreme (or seriously) and mixed with politics:
Malekpour, who is a Toronto resident, was arrested in October 2008 while visiting relatives in Iran. He was convicted in a short trial and was sentenced to death in October 2011, according to Amnesty International.
Iran’s Supreme Court confirmed the sentence on January 17. Malekpour’s lawyers have been unable to ascertain the whereabouts of his court files since Tuesday and fear this could be an indicator that an executioner could carry out the sentence soon, Amnesty said. A court official suggested to the lawyers that the file had been sent to the Office for the Implementation of Sentences, according to Amnesty.
Malekpour sent a letter from prison detailing beatings and other mistreatment at the hands of Iranian prison officials to obtain a confession, said Hadi Ghaemi, executive director of the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran.
You can read the rest of the CNN side of the story here.
According to The Iranian Times, the fact that Malekpour is Canadian may have something to do with how this case is being handled since both governments have a sour relationship:
The fact that Malekpour was a Canadian resident may have something to do with the way his case was handled. Iranian relations with Canada have been very sour ever since the July 2003 death in Iranian custody of Zahra Kazemi, a 54-year-old photo-journalist and dual Iranian-Canadian citizen. Since then, Canada has led the annual effort at the United Nations that always results in Iran being denounced for human rights violations.
Malekpour is not the only Iranian with Canadian links to be in trouble with the Islamic Republic. Hamid Ghassemi-Shall, a Canadian citizen and Toronto shoe salesman, has also been sentenced to death by Iran. Another Canadian citizen, Hossain Derakhshan, known popularly as the “blogfather” for his role in promoting blogging in Iran, is serving a 20-year sentence for those efforts.
It goes on to add that the Iranian regime is persecuting bloggers and Internet users. You can sign a petition to free Saeed here. It´s time to take action. For more information please visit the International Center for Human Rights in Iran.
First I would like to show a short documentary produced by the David Horowitz Freedom Center for Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, narrated by Nonie Darwish, which shows the cruelty these fanatics have against their women.
WARNING: This video contains violence & graphic content, including two stonings. This is NOT for the faint of heart or those with a weak stomach.
So much for the religion of peace. And I don’t care that most Muslims are peaceful: I already know that and my post here is not to put everyone under the same group but to show what fanaticism can do and what can happen if you give them power or if these fanatics take over power in an Islamic country. What I do see is that without the religion this would not be happening neither would it be possible. What they are doing to these girls and women is supported by the Shariah law which is the moral code of Islam. These people have no real morals in the way they treat their own women, so why would we think that they would show any type of mercy for what they consider “infidel”?. We’ll, they wouldn’t. They will even kill you for watching a Soccer World Cup game. You just need to turn on the news (any news) to see that religious intolerance in the middle east may cause global catastrophe in a future that may be sooner than what we think. In Palestine there are terrorist camps where they train children for “holy war” and there are more examples of terrorist camps in not just Palestine but in other Islamic countries and in the US as well. According to Homeland Security:
Homegrown terrorists represent a new and changing facet of the terrorist threat. To be clear, by “homegrown,” I mean terrorist operatives who are U.S. persons and who were radicalized in the United States and learned terrorist tactics either here or in training camps in places such as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.
Remember that the Nazis had children’s camps too? When a radical minority takes hold of power we know what can happen. These radicals may be the minority now but they are growing (and those kids and their hatred are too) and could easily take power in an Islamic country. Pakistan is an example of this. They would have access to nuclear weapons and would be more than happy to use them on India, which also has nuclear weapons. I can imagine the chain of events emerging from that.
I wish it was just this
My belief is that the first step to prevent this is by making people aware of what’s going on. Again: I do not intend to put all Muslims under the same group. My criticism is aimed towards religious fanaticism and the dangers that can come from it. We all know what type of atrocities can be committed in the “name of God” regardless of the faith being professed.
If they are capable of this, then what AREN’T they capable of?
